The need to create the given project is caused by the development of Internet technologies and the growth of the demand from Internet users for different tools that increase the efficiency of work with web information. The project is intended for different categories of users (from home users to corporate ones) and it is distinguished by a flexible marketing policy which is sensitive to changes of the market. 

We would like to point out that we are going not just to offer an improved version of already existing products, but offer new solutions based on our own search technologies and know-how. Especially it is necessary to emphasize the capability to search for similar documents. Such solutions make it possible to gain a positive result not due to ousting business competitors, but the expansion of the market.

Within the framework of the project it is planned to implement several components (internet software) based on patented technologies:

  1. Search Query Converter (Internet service) is a metasearch program located at our web site (program for simultaneous search among a lot of Internet search engines). Our products will not only enable the full potential of Internet search engines (all search capabilities), but extend their functionality by means of query preprocessing.   2. Internet services allow users to create lists of links, save them directly at our web site and work with them ( Lists of Links and the Favorites Service). " Search Query Converter"(SRC)

This Internet service is a meta search program located at our web site. The main idea of metasearch is to use  simultaneous several Internet search engines and merge search results received from these engines into one list. In spite of the presence of similar products, while developing SRC, we did not invent the wheel. All currently existing metasearch products have an important disadvantage. They do not enable in full measure the full potential of Internet search engines and provide the user with a very limited set of Boolean operators. The unsatisfactory search results force users to access directly different search engines. It is rather inconvenient to work separately with several engines. SQC can eliminate these inconveniences.

The use of the full potential of Internet search engines. To optimize the process of search query formation and enable the full potential of search engines used in query processing, we provide the ability to create a search form depending on a list of search engines selected by the user. It means that. the search form will contain the fields related to at least one of selected search engines. The user will work only with one interface in contrast to use of several interfaces while working with different search engines. The user will form a search query by filling out required fields which will be processed by each search engine. If a particular search engine does not support any capability, it will just ignore it during query processing. Thus, if a particular search engine is used in query processing, the user can form a query taking account of any search capability of this search engine.

The extension of search engine capabilities. In addition, we will extend the functionality of search engines. For example, most search engines do not support the search with synonyms. Of course, this inconvenience can be avoided, but for that it is necessary to join all synonyms of a word by the operator OR. It is a rather routine work and the user can hardly remember all synonyms. Our capability of search query formation using query preprocessing will eliminate this disadvantage. The user can extend the query by all synonyms of any word at once or by several synonyms selected from the list proposed by the dictionary. In the same way the query can be extended using the morphological dictionary or any thesaurus. It should be noted that in addition to built-in dictionaries, the user can create and use his or her own dictionaries (user thesauri). The presence of this ability is caused by the fact that there is no universal dictionary that meets requirements of all users. The creation of user dictionaries will allow the user to create any subject thesaurus based on individual preferences and extends capabilities of search engines.  

Lists of Links and the Favorites Service

As a rule while working with Internet information,  the user handles a list of links to web pages. Usually products of such class called bookmarkers or bookmark managers. Our products in contrast to  existing products works not only with web links, but with heterogeneous links (including web links, links to files (shortcuts), links to records of a database and other kind of links).

Lists can be obtained: in result of query processing by a particular search engine, from a web page found by a user etc. When a list or a collection of links is saved at our web site, each user can access only his or her own data. The ability to store lists and collections of links at our web site can be used in multi-user operating mode (for corporate clients) with restriction of access right.

The work with lists involves a wide range of capabilities. When the user accesses a list, it is activated, i.e. the user can move the cursor along the list of documents. To make the work with lists more convenient, the ability to work with items of the list will be provided: removal (logical) of some items or their groups from the list, addition of new items to the list. The list of items can be sorted by certain characteristics. As each link in the resulting list provide some information (web page address, title, relevance to the query (rating), date of search, name of search engine etc.), the capability to adjust the appearance of lists by the user is provided.

Besides, while working with the list, the user can modify it, add user comment fields of different types to lists and collections of links, search for desired data among them, structure collections of links by binding them to the classifier.

Internet Office (IO)

The development of the Internet and the growth of the amount of information stored on the Internet caused the appearance of new tools providing a fast and convenient search for desired data and the work with them. Internet software (web software) products are one of this kind. These programs include: internet archival system, metasearch programs, download managers, offline browser, watchers, bookmarkers, etc. Each of them provides their own functional capabilities. All these programs make the work with Internet information easier and accomplish a different range of tasks. Therefore, the user can use several software products and it is rather inconvenient. The investigations have shown that this problem is rather typical and we know it by our experience. So, the idea of the creation of Internet Office (IO) arose. This product provides an integrated approach to the solution of problems related to Internet information processing.

The given product is a download manager, a watcher and a bookmarker at the same time. In addition, it supports the functions related to indexers, archival systems and document management systems (the basic functions of document management). The capabilities of metasearch integrated into IO make it a unique software product that accomplish a wide range of tasks connected with Internet  information processing. It should be noted that at the moment there is no precise analogue of this product. Due to a wide range of capabilities, IO can be well promoted on the market and its quality implementation will allow it to compete well with meta search programs, download managers, watchers and bookmarkers on the market of Internet-oriented products.  

At first IO is the web information manager which also be called as Web Page Organizer. It's a utility which let you gather information from the Web, store Web pages, organize it into meaningful categories, and easily retrieve and share data.

At the same time our product does more than just save web pages on your hard drive. It creates a searchable archive for collect and organize information from Internet, save web information and organize web pages in a second. 

Thus IO lets you download and organize Web pages or entire Web sites for offline browsing or searching. You can search downloaded Web pages for keywords using built-in full-text indexing and view the directory structure of a Web site and its site map.

While saving web pages, IO downloads and automatically indexes them (“on the fly”) for further full-text search in offline mode. The ability to adjust a nesting level of folders makes it possible to download the current page and also several web pages related by links to it. When the desired web pages have been downloaded, the user can track all changes of these pages. If they have changed, the user can update data stored in the archive. This ability is extended by the function of scheduler that update periodically data stored in the archive. IO also provides the user with a number of capabilities which improve the functionality of the system and make the work more comfortable.

Search capabilities are very critical for any data storage system. SoftInform search technologies are notable for the high speed of query processing, i.e. a list of documents is being formed while the user is filling out the search expression box. Thus, the search is practically instantaneous and the speed of search does not depend on the size of a database. SoftInform search capabilities include: search by letter combinations, fuzzy search, phrase search, morphological analysis system, search with synonyms and concept-based search using thesauri. The user can extend queries by means of query preprocessing. The following dictionaries can be used in query preprocessing: dictionary of synonyms, morphological dictionary, semantic thesaurus, bilingual dictionary for translation etc. They can be both standard (built-in) and created by the user.

Searching for similar documents is one of the main capabilities of IO. This function is very useful and its integration with other search capabilities (morphological analysis system, search based on synonyms and thesaurus) allows us to consider IO as the product of the class of knowledge base management systems. These systems provide a meaning search. On the Internet the same information is often stored at different addresses and the review of a large number of web pages results in waste of time. The search fro similar documents will solve this problem. Before the user views a web page loaded from the Internet, IO will show pages which are similar to the loaded one and user comments to them. This makes it possible not to do the same work, i.e. to view information that has been already viewed. This capability is based on our own know-how in the field of search technologies.

Search results on the Internet represent a list of links to web pages related to search criteria. Search results in the archive are a list of documents. The resulting list will be formed according to the relevance, i.e. the page (or the link to it) which is more related to search parameters will be the first on the list and so on in the descending order. Then the check for the relevance of search results to the user query is carried out.

A list of documents can be saved for further work in the form of a collection of documents. The saved collection of documents can be modified. In addition to work with collections of documents, IO provides a wide range of capabilities to work with links to web pages and collections of these links.

IO allows structuring saved web pages: binding them to the classifier and glossary, moving to a particular cabinet with a set of comment field. In addition to descriptive data which are automatically saved (URL, date and time of saving, the query by which the document was found, the name of search engine which found it), any number of user comment fields of various types (textual, numerical, date) can be added to each saved web page. Due to a powerful search tool of IO, it is possible to conduct search by these fields (a similar range of capabilities is provided for working with links). While working with saved pages in IO, the user can create compound documents (it is a logical structure which corresponds to the main document in Microsoft Word and it can include any number of documents). Besides, IO makes it possible to create user hyperlinks, bookmarks and also combined documents (a single document that consists of text fragments of several other documents). While accessing a document, IO will highlight search results and allow the user to navigate through them.

IO provide the multiversion mechanism of information representation (versioning) which allows storing a downloaded web page in the archive in the form of several versions. IO also allows the user to view changes which have occurred with the database during his or her absence. This function is indispensable for network version of IO and for working in multi-user operating mode.

IO allows working with saved search queries (Internet search queries etc).
